History
Archbishop O'Leary High School started its FIRST EVER Competitive Cheer Team (and first Cheer Team of any sort in 16 years) in the 1999/2000 school year.
IT WAS THE FIRST COMPETITIVE HIGH SCHOOL TEAM IN THE EDMONTON CATHOLIC SCHOOL SYSTEM.
During the football season the team cheers for Senior Football games (except, of course, for members who are on the football team) and provides entertainment for all other O'Leary events.
The team has also accompanied the football teams to the annual Calgary Football Tournament at McMahon Stadium.
The team presents routines at all O'Leary Pep Rallies.
Student support for the team has grown tremendously and is very evident at these rallies.
Interested team members try out for a Dance Team (they competed in this category in 2001.  (Whether or not we will compete in 2002 depends upon point #2 in "Additional Coaches / Managers" above).
Team members participated actively in a variety of fundraising efforts.
The ten-member Varsity Team competed all major local competitions in 2000.
The sixteen-member Co-Ed Team and the nine-member Dance team competed in all major competitions in 2001.
